When pushin’
Comes to shovin’
It’s time to
Wake the coven
The witches
Are still burning
But refuse
To let that
Stop them

It’s not that I didn’t want
To find myself
I promise you
I have been looking
But I fear the discovery
At the end of this maze
Like a sharp prick of truth
In an ocean of haze

Finally, I see
The answer was obvious
And full of sorrow
Where I’ve been hiding
From me all this time:
The clandestine land of
Tomorrow

Took a pill for
Future happy
Doesn’t help with
Present sad
Took one
Yesterday as well
Didn’t stop me
Feeling bad
Pill is not a contract –
Just a wish in capsule form
A wish to insulate me –
World is cold
But I stay warm
I wish each day
For future happy
And sometimes
It works
Then other days
I hate these little
Orange bottle jerks
I do know this:
The present sad
Will pass as surely
As the bird will benefit
From the choice
To rise early
But I fear a simple truth
I’ve chosen not to see:
That the pill
Can only do so much
And the future happy
Has to come
From me
